We recently had the opportunity to speak to our lovely long-term customer about her stunning home, that’s been a true labour of love.
Our client always dreamed of an American-inspired Hamptons-style home, and when she could make that come true, but in rural NSW, she was thrilled.
Her home has stunning architectural features characteristic of Hamptons interior design style, like French doors, timber floors, and window seats. Over time, Jody has worked with our Lavender Hill Interiors team to complete the home she’d always envisioned. We were happy to be part of this amazing project, and continue to be one of Jody's go to's for extra furniture and homewares pieces.
Jody's amazing home recently was featured in Home Beautiful - The Ultimate Hamptons Home Issue. One of her favourite pieces in her home project included our blue and white striped linen armchair, for a pop of colour in an otherwise neutral living room.
1. Can you tell us a little about the house you have built and the interior style that you wanted to achieve?
I knew the style of house I wanted to build. To be honest I thought I would only get something like this in my dreams. We are truly blessed!! My husband and I have always loved American style homes. So when it came to building we knew what we wanted. A true Hamptons style home (but in rural Sydney lol)

2. What are some of the design elements in your new home that encapsulate the Hamptons aesthetic?
The Hamptons home features high pitched roof, dorma windows, carriage style garage doors, large living areas, coffered ceilings, French doors, hardwood timber floors, window seats, a real wood fire with a large mantelpiece, all white kitchen with shaker doors, wainscoting throughout, all white trims and doors with dark antique brass hardware. We managed to feature all this in our home.

Cushions
Carriage doors on the garage and coffered ceilings throughout the home are features that Hamptons homes display which Jody encapsulated beautifully in her home.

3. Home Beautiful magazine recently featured your beautiful home. Can you tell us how this came about?

This is an amazing story and I still can’t believe it…….My home in one of the best home magazines in Australia (Pinch me now and wake me up)
All of our timber supplies were purchased from a company called Intrim mouldings and they approached me to feature our home on their website. They arrived on the scheduled day to take photographs of the house. The lady was praising our home and how beautiful it was and asked if we have ever been approached by a magazine to feature our home. I of course said no, and that it would be a dream come true. She said that she has contacts in home beautiful and she was sure that they would love our home.
The photos they took were sent Home Beautiful showcasing our house and Home Beautiful replied saying they would love to feature our home. I could not believe it, I was on cloud 9….. I honestly felt like I had just won the lotto.
Within only a few weeks of that email the lovely Home Beautiful crew arrived at our home to take photographs. We were featured in the Australian Home beautiful The ultimate Hamptons home May 2022 edition. The day the magazine was realised I rushed to the shops and bought every copy I could find. I sent some copies to my family in Scotland and kept a million copies for myself. hahah

4. What is the most enjoyable thing about sharing your home and styling on social media? @scotbuildshamptonshome
I started my Instagram page during Covid lockdown to keep my mind busy. I never thought I would get the followers I have today. I love how I can inspire people with my ideas. I am not an interior designer so to receive lovely feedback and comments on a daily basis truly does make me so happy!!

5. We have a number of mood boards and styling images to help our customers choose pieces that work together in their homes. When purchasing your furniture did you use these mood boards and find them helpful?
I knew exactly what I wanted in my home and so did not really use your mood boards. I do however, think they are a great idea and a fantastic tool. Not everyone has a styling eye or even a vision on how they want their home to look and your mood boards can definitely help people put things together and decide what they like.
I think that your mood boards have been put together really well. They definitely would be very useful for someone who knows they want the Hamptons style, but can not quite decide how to make it all happen.

6. How have you found the process of ordering and the delivery of your furniture and homewares?
Lavender hill interiors are my go-to. They have a huge range of quality Hamptons furniture and homewares at very affordable prices, fast delivery and friendly staff.
I also know that they do a virtual showroom visit for those customers who are unable to make it into their showroom. Its really difficult when you find a shop that you love, but you just cant see the things in person. I feel that this service is fantastic for interstate and country people who are looking for this extra mile in service.

7. Can you tell us how you found the quality and design of the pieces you received?
I am a returning customer for a reason. Lavender hill interiors is by far my favourite store. Always friendly customer service, quality furniture and homewares, shipping is fast and always arrives well packed and in pristine condition.
8. What do you think is the thing that keeps drawing you back to Lavender Hill Interiors?
Not only are their products gorgeous but the quality is great!

9. What can’t you live without?
The obvious answer would be time spent with my kids, husband and my cavoodle Miss Lady.
But I couldn't live without interior design. I absolutely love making our home beautiful and inspiring others with my ideas. Its like an obsession - I live for it.
I also need to add here that I now couldn't live without my two blue striped linen armchairs from Lavender Hill. They are definitely my favourite purchase from you guys. They add interest and colour to my neutral living room, I am a sucker for stripes!
